Observation of Gluing Bifurcation in Electronic Chua Oscillator

mong the various bifurcation phenomena that may be observed in dynamical systems, gluing bifurcation is an important class of homoclinic bifurcation. The Z2 (or the so called reflection) symmetry plays a crucial role in occurrence of such bifurcation. At the bifurcation point two homoclinic orbits, which are mirror image of each other, appear as glued together at the saddle and thus forming in phase space a periodic orbit with a figure of eight shape [1]. The trajectory of a homoclinic orbit always tends to the saddle for both forward and backward in time. The period of the limit cycles in the neighborhood of homoclinic orbit hence increases asymptotically (or in a wiggle) [2,3] to infinity with change in the control parameter.
